Kill Switch for Internet?
by Randy   JUN 16, 2010 9:24 PM

Joe Leiberman is pushing a bill in the Senate that would give Obama absolute control over the Internet. The bill has been introduced under the guise of cyber security, but the bill provides the ability to shut down free speech by declaring a national emergency.

The article posted on Prison Planet says in part;

As we have repeatedly warned for years, the federal government is desperate to seize control of the Internet because the establishment is petrified at the fact that alternative and independent media outlets are now eclipsing corporate media outlets in terms of audience share, trust, and influence.

We witnessed another example of this on Monday when establishment Congressman Bob Etheridge was publicly shamed after he was shown on video assaulting two college students who asked him a question. Two kids with a flip cam and a You Tube account could very well have changed the course of a state election, another startling reminder of the power of the Internet and independent media, and why the establishment is desperate to take that power away.

The full legislation is here.

Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?
by Randy   JUN 08, 2010 10:35 AM

Daniel Klein has written this great piece in the Wall Street Journal summarizing a poll of people who self identified as;  progressives/very liberal, liberal, moderate, conservative, very conservative, and libertarian. The questions all relate to basic economics, and the results show the more liberal the less they understand economics.

Read more here...  Be sure to read the comments which confirms the poll.

Tele-Town Hall Meeting With Pres Obama
by Randy   JUN 07, 2010 1:11 PM

There will be a tele-town hall meeting on Tuesday June 8th at the Gables of Boutwells Landing in Stillwater at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM The subject will be for the Obama administration to convey their propaganda to seniors attempting to "sell" the healthcare legislation that passed congress this year, and was signed into law by President Obama.  I have never seen a propaganda campaign like this after major legislation has already passed.

Census Cost per Person
by Randy   JUN 04, 2010 11:41 PM

I was mulling over the costs of doing the 2010 census, and it does not look too good. The simple math;  Budget for the 2010 census is $15 billion, approximate population to be counted 308 million.  Therefore the average cost per person counted is $48.70.  That's a lot.

Well wait a minute, the census claims that 72 percent of us mailed in our census forms. So that should reduce the cost per person a lot. Let's say the cost of printing the form, and mailing both ways cost $3.00.  That seems reasonable. If that is the case 221 million people mailed in their census forms properly.  221 million times $3 is about $665 million. That leaves more than 95 percent of the census budget for door to door counting.

If 221 million mailed in the forms then about 86 million people need to be counted by census workers. So the average cost to count the remaining people would be about $166 each.  [ $14.3 billion / 86 million ].

Considering that the typical census worker is getting $18 / hour, that means it takes 9.23 hours to count one person.  Or in simple terms the census workers are counting an average of less one person a day.  For any person who is thinking logically that is really pathetic.
