Michele Bachmann wrote and editorial for the DailyCaller today, and offered congratulations to President Obama on his transformation of America. An excerpt;
With the president’s signature on the health care bill Tuesday, roughly 50 percent of the U.S. economy has fallen under the purview of the federal government.
The president can rightly say he has transformed America.
Since the inception of bailout nation in September of 2008 with passage of the $700 billion TARP bailout, the government takeover lollapalooza was under way.

Congress Ignores the American People and Passes Health Care Overhaul
Washington, D.C., Mar 21 -
U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-06) issued the following statement tonight as House Democrats passed their trillion-dollar health care bill despite the American people's overwhelming objection to it:
“On August 13, 1800, Thomas Jefferson wrote the following:
"‘Our country is too large to have all its affairs directed by a single government. Public servants at such a distance, and from under the eye of their constituents, must, from the circumstance of distance, be unable to administer and overlook all the details necessary for the good government of the citizens, and the same circumstance, by rendering detection impossible to their constituents, will invite the public agents to corruption, plunder and waste. And I do verily believe, that if the principle were to prevail, of a common law being in force in the United States…, it would become the most corrupt government on the earth…What an augmentation of the field for jobbing, speculation, plundering, office-building, and office-hunting would be produced by an assumption of all the State powers into the hands of the General Government.’
“Poignant words, and as our federal government expands its grip over one-sixth of our nation’s economy with the passing of this legislation, maybe now President Obama and Speaker Pelosi will finally take the time to find out what’s in it.
"This past year, the President and Democratic leaders in Congress gathered in back rooms away from the American people and twisted arms to get just enough votes through deals and handouts to pass their legislation. They broke promises of open debate and transparency, and instead of working with Republicans and implementing common sense reforms that wouldn’t break the bank, they went it alone and spent more money we just don’t have.
"Future generations will pay the price for our government’s arrogance and recklessness, and the American people won’t ever forget the irresponsible actions of this Administration and Congress. After all, government answers to the people, not the other way around, and the fight for the soul of this nation continues on.”

Paul Ryan exposes the mockery that the Democrats are making of our legislative process in order to ram a government takeover of health care through Congress. See HealthReformScam.com
Unfortunately the Democrats neither listened to, nor heard, nor care what Paul Ryan had to say.

You really have to appreciate the efforts of some Americans to stop the travesty of ObamaCare. This letter to Nancy Pelosi from the Attorney General of Virginia is a great example.
Letter at Biggovernment.comThe Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the United States House of Representatives
Office of the Speaker H-232,
U.S. Capitol Washington, D.C.Dear Speaker Pelosi:
I am writing to urge you not to proceed with the Senate Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act under a so-called “deem and pass” rule because such a course of action would raise grave constitutional questions.
Based upon media interviews and statements which I have seen, you are considering this approach because it might somehow shield members of Congress from taking a recorded vote on an overwhelmingly unpopular Senate bill. This is an improper purpose under the bicameralism requirements of Article I, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution, one of the purposes of which is to make our representatives fully accountable for their votes. Furthermore, to be validly enacted, the Senate bill would have to be accepted by the House in a form that is word-for-word identical (Clinton v. City of New York, 524 U.S. 417 (1998)).
Should you employ the deem and pass tactic, you expose any act which may pass to yet another constitutional challenge.
A bill of this magnitude should not be passed using this maneuver. As the President noted last week, the American people are entitled to an up or down vote.Sincerely,
COMMONWEALTH of VIRGINIA
Office of the Attorney General
Kenneth T. Cuccinelli, II Attorney General of Virginia

The Reconcillation Bill HR4872 which is the bill that modifies the Senate health care bill and completely restructures our health care system, also fully restructures the federal education aid system. It provides for the Termination of Federal Family Education Loan appropriations.,
Terminates of Federal loan insurance program, Termination of applicable interest rates, Termination of Federal payments to reduce student interest costs., Terminates of FFEL PLUS Loans., Federal Consolidation Loans., Termination of Unsubsidized Stafford Loans for middle-income borrowers, an much more.
It also imposes what appears to me to be a wealth tax; It is a new Medicare tax; That is a tax of 3.8 percent of undistributed annual investment income on individuals. If your IRA went up 10 percent the government will take 3.8 percent of it even if you took no distribution.
This country is in so much trouble from this administration and the Democrats in Congress. I fear for it.

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) is calling for a massive rally at the US Capitol on Saturday March 21st 20th.
"If they impose this socialized medicine on America there is no undoing it. That's the part the American people need to know is once an entitlement is created there isn't any history that it's ever given up. We must block it. Stop it now."

Bachmann to Hold Press Conference Regarding the St. Croix River Bridge
U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann (MN-06) will hold a press conference on Monday, March 15th at 10am at the Waterstreet Inn in Stillwater to discuss the recent court decision blocking the construction of the St. Croix River Bridge.
On Thursday, a judge ruled in favor of the Sierra Club’s objection that the bridge would have a dramatic change on the river’s scenery. Plans for a new bridge have been in the works for 20 years and have consistently been blocked at the 11th hour by the Sierra Club. The area was designated as a National Scenic Riverway in 1972, despite a local economy composed of small businesses, manufacturing and tourism. Bachmann is exploring a variety of options to move construction of the bridge forward so that Minnesota and Wisconsin families can travel to both sides of the St. Croix safely.
What: Press Conference on the construction of a new St. Croix River Bridge
Where: Waterstreet Inn, 101 Water Street South, Stillwater, MN
When: 10:00 am

This video dates back to mid July of last year, but it is a pretty powerful presentation by Congressman Mike Rogers' (R MI-8) opening remarks on health care legislation specifically the house version, but the video also applies to the Senate version. The YouTube video has been viewed by nearly 7 million people. It about 3 ½ minutes in length.

Dennis Prager has written an great article about the debt and Democrats. An excerpt;
And most Americans do not understand the difference between liberal and left. They do not realize, for example, that there is no major difference between the American Democratic Party and the leftist social democratic parties of Western Europe. They do not know that from Karl Marx to Obama, the left (as opposed to liberals) has never created wealth because it has never been interested in creating wealth; it is interested in redistributing wealth.

Michele Bachmann has authored a petition titled "Declaration of Health Care Independence". You can read it here or here where you can also sign the petition.
Declaration of Health Care Independence
In order to retain the Blessings of Liberty as secured to us by our Founding Fathers and as expressed in our Constitution, We the People reject the imposition upon us of a new, Washington-controlled system of government-run health care. We demand Constitutional protection of the right to make our own health decisions and our own health care choices free of government denials, bureaucratic red-tape, and greater intergenerational debt.
A Washington takeover of American health care will
1) Deny fundamental personal and economic liberties and indisputably violate the Principle of Limited Government as established by the Constitution;
2) Impose increased costs and taxes upon individuals, families, and businesses, as well as taxpayers at the federal, state, and local levels;
3) Irreparably cripple the American economy, at the cost of jobs, businesses, productivity, and quality of life;
4) Create an inescapable new tax by imposing individual and employer mandates;
5) Institutionalize a massive, ever-expanding federal bureaucracy that is impersonal and impractical;
6) Empower bureaucrats to interfere in the doctor-patient relationship, undermine the quality of care, limit choice, and increase the cost of health care.We have appealed to the decency of the elected majority to respect the rights of all Americans, but their leaders have been deaf to the Voice of the People. We are appalled by their cavalier disregard of the Constitution and of the demands of the People. We are repulsed by their blatant political bribes and kickbacks.
We, therefore, the People and Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, do solemnly Publish and Declare that health care reform, as a matter of principle must
1) Protect as inviolate the vital doctor-patient relationship;
2) Reject any addition to the crushing national debt heaped upon all Americans;
3) Improve, rather than diminish, the quality of care that Americans enjoy;
4) Be negotiated publicly, transparently, with genuine accountability and oversight, and be free from political favoritism;
5) Treat private citizens at least as well as political officials;
6) Protect taxpayers from funding of abortion and abortion coverage;
7) Reject all new mandates on patients, employers, individuals, or states;
8) Prohibit expansion of taxpayer funded health care to those unlawfully present in the United States;
9) Guarantee Equal Protection under the law and the Constitution;
10) Empower, rather than limit, an open and accessible marketplace of health care choice and opportunity.
