Michele Bachmann at 'Save Fury Motors' Rally
by Joe Salmon   MAY 31, 2009

Michele Bachmann spoke at a "Save Fury Motors" rally at the Fury Chrysler Dodge store in Lake Elmo on Saturday. Fury will lose the Chrysler franchise in the next week or two. This will happen even though Fury announced at the rally Saturday that May 2009 was the best new car sales month that the 85 year old company has ever experienced. What this means is that the government/union owned Chrysler Corp will put 42 employees of Fury Motors out of work! If someone can explain this to me; I would certainly appreciate your help!

Michele announced that she would fight the decision on the floor of the US House next week. God bless her - but I don't hold out much hope.

See photos of the event on the web site under Gallery. Thanks for all the SD56 members who were able to show up with such short notice. Great pictures thanks to Richard Glascow!! Pictures

UPDATE I: Michele Bachmann's congressional web site has more.

Tea Party July 4th St.Paul Capitol? - Needs You   MAY 31, 2009

The Tea Party movement, and the potential July 4th edition will not happen without help, and specifically organizers. The TeaPartyMN group who put on the terrific Tax Day rally are unable to organize this one. The organizers (Toni Backdahl and Kellie Cripe) used some of their own money to fund the endeavor. They should be commended for their volunteerism and can do sprit. But it is time for others to step up the plate to make this happen.

American Capitalism Gone with a Whimper
by Pravda   MAY 30, 2009

There is a certain amount of irony that the Russia newspaper Pravda has noticed the rapid transformation of American politics since the election.

"It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists." Read the article

Meeting of Republicans  MAY 29, 2009

At the monthly meeting of SD56 Republican's last night the Conservative of the Month award went to Natasha Roux, who has done an outstanding job as our secretary.

We had two speakers who highlighted the evenings activities. First was Phil Herwig. Mr Herwig has announced his intent to seek the Republican endorement for governor of MN in 2010. He previously ran for Congress against James Oberstar in 1992, and 1994 in the 8th District.

Next, Craig Westover, a contributing columnist to the Pioneer Press Opinion page and a senior policy fellow at the Minnesota Free Market Institute, talked about Republican principals and how they supercede Republican values. He and Marianne Stebbins recently launched the Open Republican Party blog.

Website Enhancements  MAY 26, 2009

You may have noticed some enhancements on the web site recently. The address shown in the browser address window now provides an SEO friendly appearance with a path and file name. Those are actually aliases for the underlying content but makes the url easier for search engines to follow.

The title of the website is now more dynamic too, and updates as different pages load in the center column.

These changes have forced many internal changes. If anyone finds a bug anywhere, please let me know; webmaster

SD56 Monthly Meeting - May 28th

Below is a letter from Joe Salmon describing our upcoming Senate District meeting. I just wanted to remind you that there is a substantial and interesting agenda on tap for the upcoming meeting.

To my fellow conservative Republicans,

Let me tell you about our upcoming meeting on May 28th at the Machine Shed Restaurant.

First we will discuss how to become a delegate to next years conventions. We just had our CD 6 Convention last Saturday which means that all delegates elected in 2008 are now finished with their responsibilities. So, if you are interested in becoming a delegate next year, it is time to start attending our BPOU meetings and make yourself known. If you are interested in change - it is up to you!
