Michele Bachmann spoke at a "Save Fury Motors" rally at the Fury Chrysler Dodge store in Lake Elmo on Saturday. Fury will lose the Chrysler franchise in the next week or two. This will happen even though Fury announced at the rally Saturday that May 2009 was the best new car sales month that the 85 year old company has ever experienced. What this means is that the government/union owned Chrysler Corp will put 42 employees of Fury Motors out of work! If someone can explain this to me; I would certainly appreciate your help!
Michele announced that she would fight the decision on the floor of the US House next week. God bless her - but I don't hold out much hope.
See photos of the event on the web site under Gallery. Thanks for all the SD56 members who were able to show up with such short notice. Great pictures thanks to Richard Glascow!! Pictures
UPDATE I: Michele Bachmann's congressional web site has more.

The Tea Party movement, and the potential July 4th edition will not happen without help, and specifically organizers. The TeaPartyMN group who put on the terrific Tax Day rally are unable to organize this one. The organizers (Toni Backdahl and Kellie Cripe) used some of their own money to fund the endeavor. They should be commended for their volunteerism and can do sprit. But it is time for others to step up the plate to make this happen.

There is a certain amount of irony that the Russia newspaper Pravda has noticed the rapid transformation of American politics since the election.
"It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.
True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists." Read the article

Next, Craig Westover, a contributing columnist to the Pioneer Press Opinion page and a senior policy fellow at the Minnesota Free Market Institute, talked about Republican principals and how they supercede Republican values. He and Marianne Stebbins recently launched the Open Republican Party blog.

SD56 Monthly Meeting - May 28th
Below is a letter from Joe Salmon describing our upcoming Senate District meeting. I just wanted to remind you that there is a substantial and interesting agenda on tap for the upcoming meeting.
To my fellow conservative Republicans,
Let me tell you about our upcoming meeting on May 28th at the Machine Shed Restaurant.
First we will discuss how to become a delegate to next years conventions. We just had our CD 6 Convention last Saturday which means that all delegates elected in 2008 are now finished with their responsibilities. So, if you are interested in becoming a delegate next year, it is time to start attending our BPOU meetings and make yourself known. If you are interested in change - it is up to you!

- May 14, 2009 - Mark Steyn writes "Live Free or Die", an essay on big government.
"MY REMARKS are titled tonight after the words of General Stark, New Hampshire's great hero of the Revolutionary War: "Live free or die!" When I first moved to New Hampshire, where this appears on our license plates, I assumed General Stark had said it before some battle or other-a bit of red meat to rally the boys for the charge; a touch of the old Henry V-at-Agincourt routine. But I soon discovered that the general had made his famous statement decades after the war, in a letter regretting that he would be unable to attend a dinner. And in a curious way I found that even more impressive. In extreme circumstances, many people can rouse themselves to rediscover the primal impulses: The brave men on Flight 93 did. They took off on what they thought was a routine business trip, and, when they realized it wasn't, they went into General Stark mode and cried "Let's roll!" - " continue..

WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement upon releasing a letter announcing the formation of the National Council for a New America, a forward-looking, grassroots caucus intended to bring together Congressional leaders with a national panel of experts.
“The National Council for a New America will engage with and empower the American people to develop innovative solutions that meet the serious challenges confronting our country. It is the right time to begin a thoughtful conversation about the future of this country.”
